CBPlatBerg18
I was curious seeing news of the new ford explorer and escape models coming they appear to have Sync 3 but a new version of it. Does anyone know or think that cars that currently have Sync 3 will get an update? or no and just the new ones have the newest version? just curious as to anyone's opinion....thanks!
Multitask
up to 2018 is 3.0.18xxx 2019 and after is 3.2 From what I've read the 2019's have more RAM, so they can get newer updates. THis is not to say that 3.0.18xxx is the last, Ford could make a stripped down version of 3.2 for us, meaning it would have less features.... I"ve yet to read what is 'new' about 3.2 over 3.0
Waldo
3.2 has a lot of strategic changes. Almost all of the menus have been removed from the cluster and put in the center screen. Things like adjusting the lane keeping, MyKey, language and units and all that is now all set up though the center screen. So it wouldn't really work with the older models because the clusters might not be able to handle the conflicting messages.

I haven't had a chance to stop by a Dealership to look at the 2019's, so I was wondering: Since so many of functions have been moved to the center screen, what functions do the steering wheel buttons serve now? Anything new, or just less functions now that so many have been moved? Guess I'll download the 2019 MKZ Owners Manual and take a look at what is different. Nice to see you active again and good luck.

The 2019 MKZ has Sync 3.0, version 3.3. I had a 2019 MKZ recently for a few days, and did not notice any differences that our Sync 3.0 version, other than a choice of background color, two shades of two colors. Yes, two shades of the color we now have, and two shades of a light blue. I remember the lane keeping system remained the same as our 18s, but I did play around with it, and did not notice any other differences. The dealer said that my system had no available updates, so I assume the 3.3 update is not in our future. I set the screen to one of the blue shades below. Multitask
Yea, On the surface, it seems that anything above 3.0 (3.2 3.3) can do background colors, maybe even PICS line Sync 2 had. I'm hoping to find an APIM from a 2019 soon , swap it out to my 2018 and see what new things I can do (if any)I've read that the main reason is the new APIM (2019 and higher) has more ram, so it can do more things... Could also mean because the new cars should have 'modems' in them for updates so it needs more ram for that.
