space saver spare

I'm new to this forum and need some guidance.  I recently purchased a 2018 fusion hybrid.  The car came with the factory air pump and sealer which I would like to replace with the space saver spare and jack.  My question is this:  I have 17" factory rims and tires on the car, what size spare should I be looking for?  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

I have the same question for the same vehicle today.  Anybody have any guidance? Thanks.

Hi asicking. Not sure of the exact specs. However, you have several options according to how much you are willing to spend. Here are a few:

First and likely least expensive...Check with your local Salvage Yards for a Fusion with the same size wheels as yours (i.e. 17", 18", 19", you don't mention it), and purchase the spare from a 2013+ Fusion with the same size wheels.

Second...Call any of the many online Ford Parts sellers and ask them for the properly sized spare for the wheel size on your Fusion. Just Google "Online Ford parts sellers" and have your VIN handy when you call.

Third...Stop by the Parts Department at your local Ford Dealers and ask them to order the properly sized spare for your Fusion. Have your VIN handy when you do. And keep in mind that parts prices are negotiable, so negotiate and get competing estimates form multiple Dealers. I recommend stopping by as opposed to calling. I get better service when dealing face to face, as opposed to being a face on the other end of a phone.

Let us k now how you make out and good luck.

You can find a few detailed threads about this over on the Fusion Hybrid forum.  But bottom line is all Fusions used the same size spare tire, which is also the same size as the 2012+ Focus, so it's very easy to find them at salvage yards or online.

But beware, one of the main reasons the Fusion Hybrid didn't come with one from the factory is because of crash safety.  It's possible that the interaction of the spare tire and the battery during a rear-end crash could result in unfavorable outcomes.
