Am I looking in the right place? Reset the MPG and watch it after several trips. Or, do like me and record odometer and gallons used at every fill up and do the math. I do a lot of business travel so I keep these records for tax purposes.
Adee
Thank you @asicking and @xns916! I reset the MPG tracker, took it ariund the block, and it "jumped" to 34!

OK...that's a start. But keep in mind that when you first reset it, the number will fluctuate wildly with every start, stop, acceleration...the number is almost meaningless until you've driven significant miles. And even then you can see dramatic differences. For example, when I jump on the highway with no traffic and cruise 20 miles at 70 mph, I get something in the mid-30s, or less if the A/C is on. On the other hand, on a nice spring day like today with no heat or A/C and driving on rural roads without much stop and go, I'll easily get 50 to 55 mpg for 20 miles.

dpete15312
So @asicking and @AdeeI do not get more than 38 mpg average. How do I set the MILEAGE TRACKER. don't mean to be ignorant. Just looking for some advice. Thanks in advance.

Refer to owners manual for details but it’s a simple matter of pressing the info button on the left hand side of steering wheel repeatedly until mpg is selected and then press the reset button that is adjacent to the info button
lolder
In "Empower" dash display mode there are at least 6 different mileage displays, re-settable long term, re-settable trip, instantaneous gauge, efficiency bars, distance to empty and trip summary. You need to read the quick reference guide and the owners guide to understand how to use them. You need to understand how to use the menus accessed by the left steering wheel buttons.
allen84
It's been 1 year since I've performed the HVB reset. No issues at all so far. Just drove home from work just now 77 F weather and sunny. 13 mile commute, 47 mpg, 0.29 gallons used.
DenverPed
Allen, You have been our hero! My grandson applied your fix 7 months ago and I have my Fusion operating exactly as designed. 2 friends also needed the fix and my grandson happily helped them restore their cars. You have brought such joy to us and your many followers here on the site. I wasted time with the Ford dealer whose promised to contact me when the TSB came out. Absolutely no word from the Service Manager so I know they hoped I would go away. Was thinking about getting rid of the car and replacing it with something newer but why would I do that since it is running so well, is paid for and is so maintenance free. I am also 79 years old so with the Covid restrictions, we drive a lot less and I only had to fuel it once in two months!
fusionnohybridkoob
I just did the allen fix! on my 2010 FFH! under 130k miles, it works but still little worried SAFETY FIRST!! Please report any problems that might occur if the fix goes on long enough. for example, If it might have serious problems, or it might weaken the battery in the long run, if sudden stopping. If it might ruin other electrical problems in the car, anything? please report. it's not only our safety we are putting on the line but its also other people on the roads.
lolder
You are not putting anybody's safety on the line, weakening the battery or causing other problems by doing this fix.
Timkgrass
Is there anybody in Gresham or Portland Oregon area that has this equipment already and willing to help me out? I have a 2010 fusion hybrid and have been going crazy dealing with this issue.
fusionlegend69
Worked amazing on my 2010 FFH with 100k! I haven't seen the HVM enable since 50k miles until now
fusionlegend69
Alright works great in the city.... however... I performed the tweak on my FFH 2010. Today, driving east on i80 from Reno in 100 degree heat the battery really wasn't having fun. When I would cruise at anything above 3000 RPM the battery would drain very low, and the car would should a red triangle with a "!" saying PULL OVER SAFELY. This happened a total of 3 times, and went away on restart. The first time it went off, the transmission shuttered a ton. The second two times were going uphill and more casual. Here's a list of OBD codes: TCM: P0A3E:98-28 TCM: P0562:04-2C PCM: P0A7C:00-28 PCM: P1A14:00-28 APIM: U3000:04-68 ACCM: P0AFA:16-28 ABS: C1018:00-20 ABS: C1B00:64-60 IPC: U0159:00-68 Edited August 9, 2020 by fusionlegend69
Multitask
I'm sure it's AC draining the battery faster than your motors can regen it....

Multitask
Well, it is a 10 year old HEV, so maybe it's time to replace it? I think I've read they last about 130k to 150k miles... or at least that is the warranty for most of the Hybrids...

ChristianTheAtheist
Hi. I found a good deal on a 2010 Fusion Hybrid with 115,000 miles showing this issue. I already test drove it today and liked it a lot. Me and the seller have agreed to meet tomorrow to make the transaction and paperwork, I'll let you know what happens.
