diakimnj
Not sure if this is the correct forum. About a week ago I started intermittently hearing what sounded like a loose heat shield when turning left. As soon as I straightened out the wheel it disappeared. The last few days I would hear it as I was driving straight no matter what speed I was going, however it too was intermittent. Also, started hearing what sounds like a wheel bearing going bad on smoother road surfaces. On my way to work today, heard nothing the whole 25 minute ride. Made an appt w/my mechanic for Friday. However, coming home from work today, I started hearing a grinding noise when coming to a stop. It then continued as I drove. Sounded like I was dragging a piece of metal. Pulled over, looked underneath and nothing. I did happen to go through a few puddles as it's been pouring all day. Left the car in a parking lot and will have it towed. Any ideas what this could be? I'm guessing all the noises are related, although the rattling sounded like front driver's side and the grinding I heard today sounds like it is coming from the rear.

diakimnj
No, no clicking noise. It is actually more like a metal on metal noise than grinding noise. (I tried to edit original post to reflect this, but no go). I did have both front axles replaced in December.
