Goneracin
Mine just started doing this yesterday. It will work when I first get in, but after an hour drive it wont work. If I shut the car off and restart it, all is well. I'm thinking it is software related.
Raccoon2
My backup camera will work after the car has been shut off. If you have driven the car and shift from drive to reverse 99% the black screen (sometimes the screensaver appears for a short time) with camera unavailable message appears, the other 1% of the time the camera appears to be working then after a very short time the black screen appears. I would appreciate any comments and direction to go. Thank you
eGuru
I would suspect that it is a component in the camera that is defective. Before replacing it, you should verify that the camera connector in the trunk is receiving 12V when the car is shifted to reverse - obviously you will need a helper to perform this test safely. russell072009
I have the same problem. It will work for a bit then stop. I ordered a replacement camera and installed it. It worked until i buttoned everything up and closed the trunk then it stopped. I reinstalled the old camera and started shaking wires. The only place that it flickered the image was between the trunk arm and the wheel well connector in the trunk. I have to pull apart the wiring to see if I can find the problem.
