Daylight sensor replaced lights do not go off

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 Ford Fusion, SE 4 door, 6 cylinder gas.

The automatic headlight sensor stopped working and headlights would be on all time unless I manually turned the switch to off.

I installed a new sensor in the center of the dash under the windshield.

Now the dash lights go dim and bright when I cover and uncover the sensor (normal), but the headlights stay on.

I suspect there may be a relay somewhere but the owners manual does not call it out.

Help...

Thank you,

V/R

Do they remain on even when the car is not in run, or only when in run?

If at all times, even when the car is off I wonder about the headlight switch, or if tail lights are not on, the multifunction switch or somehow DRLs?

If it is in the logic or relay (I think there is only a high beam relay) then they are part of the SJB/internal fuse block.

The headlights lights seem to function...   that is, ignition off, engine off, lights off.  ignition on, engine started, headlights on.  When I back out of garage into the daylight - dash lights brighten and headlights stay on.  Cover sensor with heavy cardboard, dash lights dim and headlights stay on, uncover sensor headlights stay on.  Sensor and dash lights appear to be working, just headlights never turn off in auto mode.  Bright sun, or at night - turn engine off, ignition off, all lights go off (headlights after my set time 10 seconds).

Suggestions?

Is there an electrical 'troubleshooting manual' for Fusion?
