2011 Fusion sport only blows hot

I've got a 2011 Fusion sport that blows hot/warm air all the time. I've also noticed the external air temp on the dash reads between -40 and -20 all the time. I tried replacing the ambiant air temp sensor in the front bumper. No change. I then used a cheapo bluetooth elm tool to clear the codes torque could read. no change. I then pulled the battery for 10 minutes, that messed up the clock but the temp still reads wrong.

This car was in a front end crash a while back, and its dual zone auto climate. Looking for suggestions on what to check next.

also is there a way to force the ext temp to read like 55 all the time regardless of the real outside temp?

You need to get the ambient air temperature reading to be correct otherwise the ac compressor will not be enabled. Since you have already replaced the ambient sensor, I would suspect a bad connector or damaged wiring.

Why would you want the external temp to read 55 regardless of outside temperature?

It sounds like your temperature sensor was damaged and/or the wiring harness. Since you replaced the sensor already, I would guess you have a shorted / open wire somewhere. -40 is a default reading

If it is reading at -40 your evap temp sensor may possibly be bad. Is your compressor cycling on at all? If no then that could be a sign of that sensor being bad. It is a pain to change but it is a cheap fix. I am actually doing this in my fusion this weekend.

The OP stated it was the ambient (external) air temperature that was reading -40. Not the evap temp.
