idobson
Does anyone know how much power can safely be made on the stock internals of the 2.5L? before I have to go to forged rods and pistons? Thanks..

Thanks.. Hi idobson. Don't know the particulars off the top of my head. Perhaps someone else will jump in with that information. However, you will blow the transmission long before you need to worry about forged rods and pistons.
idobson
I have the 2.5L from a 2010 fusion in my focus that I race at the track, and the transmission is an mtx75 it currently has about 220hp, but I have a turbo kit just sitting there. I know with the 2.0 duratecs 250Hp is about the max so if the 2.5 is the same then there is no point installing the turbo kit. I read somewhere on the mazda forum that it was closer to 400 but I don't know if the internals are the same on the MZR's I think I would be happy with 300-350 besides I think I max out the fuel system around there.

Michael.Larkin
Jesus dude how did you get a 2.5L to make 220hp? I've got a 2012 with the same engine, just wondering how it was done. This is by far the highest hp I've seen someone's 2.5 make on this forum.
idobson
You just have to change everything except the block, crank, pistons and rods, nothing else is stock on a 2.5 :)
