Constant Fan Noise Normal?

Hi, I am posting here because I couldn't find anyone with a similar concern elsewhere on the forum.

I just purchased a 2019 Ford Energi Fusion, and after a few days I began noticing that after about 10 minutes of driving a fan starts to rev up behind the infotainment system. After revving a few times, it kicks on and stays on for the duration of the drive. I brought this to the mechanic's attention at Ford, but he said it was normal and just the ACM fan turning on. However, he also apparently has hearing issues, because he had to stick his head right up to the infotainment system to hear the fan, whereas family and friends I've shown it to could hear it no problem. In either case, it seems too loud to be normal, as even though it is not tremendously loud, I can still hear it over my music until about volume 10 (out of 30). The first time I noticed the revving was when I first tried to connect my Android Auto to the car.

So I am basically just wondering if anyone else who has a newer Fusion or Fusion Energi also hears the fan noise behind the infotainment system.

Thanks.

I've noticed that the climate fan for my 2020 MKZ is always on.... so I will take it in and have them check it... it's time for an oil change anyway... and I'll get a loaner.  ?

Hi Multitask. If I am understanding your post correctly, your system is working correctly. I assume you are referring to the interior HVAC/Climate Control fan. It will always be on in most modern Lincoln/Ford vehicles, as long as the HVAC/Climate Control system is on. To turn the fan off completely, you have to turn the HVAC/Climate Control system off.

On a lot of other makes, you can have the HVAC/Climate Control system powered on, but still turn the fan to an "Off" position for no airflow, but not Lincoln/Ford.

If I am misunderstanding, have your car checked when you go for the oil change.

Hope my explanation is understandable.  Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Yup, I understood.

This is not one of those 'it is too loud' things... I just happend to notice it one day... so not a nusence.  ?

But yes, when I take it in for the oil change, I will see if they can take a look and just make sure... if it is not normal, then I'll get my loaner and get it fixed.  ?

Did you get it fixed? I have a similar issue in my 2020 FFH Titanium as well.

Hi mahmoud. One man's advice: You can not determine over the Internet that what you are experiencing is the same as what another person is/was experiencing. Only one member posted back (so far) when he stated his vehicle had a "faulty humidity sensor". But that does not mean the others had the same issue.

You have a new, 2020 Fusion with a 3 year/36,000 mile New Car Bumper to Bumper Warranty. Therefore, if you feel something is not working properly on your vehicle, the best course of action is to make an appointment and take it in for service. Or stop by the Dealership and demonstrate your concern so it can be determined whether it is /is not working properly. Or address it when you have your first scheduled maintenance performed in a year or less.

In the meantime...you can perform some self-help and answer some questions. What exactly do you think is wrong? What is happening? What happens if you turn the climate control system "OFF"? What happens when you adjust the fan speed? How loud is the noise, etc.?

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Yup, when I did the oil change, I forgot to ask.

NExt time if I remember...

I do remember that the fans are on all the time, because it's climate control... not just heat or AC.

When you ahve a warranty, it's best to take it in and have them look at it.... don't rely on the Internet... like BBF has said, what happens for me , may not be what happens for you.
