I was trying to search through to see if anyone had done this - and i don't know how successful i was in finding it out. So if i may, i'm just gonna ask straight away if there's a way to do so. I mean, i've seen the 'unoffical' answer that involved the removal of a fuse or relay and the wording made it seem that the entire fuse box had to be disconnected so it seemed sketchy. I've disabled the DRLs in all my vehicles so far and of course planned to do so with this one. HOWEVER... My Fuse' has the rarer aftermarket (?) headlamp module with the straight LED eyebrows. My trouble here is, the DRLs are using the low beams as the DRLs (per the manual) and not the LED. That seems not only odd but extremely wasteful, as the main reason i disable DRLs is to stop burning a lamp that need not burn. So i was wondering if anyone had experience with altering the connectors (if need be) to make the LEDs be the DRLs and not the low beams. Or if connector alteration is needed at all.

Hi Stadawim. The factory DRL system can be enabled and disabled through the IDS system by any Ford (or Lincoln) Dealership Service Department. You can always check with your local Dealerships. Some do not know they have the ability, so you may need to inform them...lol. If your car has not been rewired, disabling through the IDS system may still work.

Unfortunately, I think the problem in your case may be that you are using an aftermarket headlamp unit with LED. So it is a long shot that anyone will have any experience which will translate over to your particular situation, unless they are using the same aftermarket unit and also disabled the DRL's.

On a related note, the low beams or de-powered high beams were usually used as the DRL from the factory on that model year Fusion. They are usually used as DRL's on older model years, unless they were HID bulbs.

Hopefully another member here will prove me mistaken and be able to advise you. Keep us updated and good luck.

Again, thanks for the response. The dealer does this? Is it that complex a procedure? Wow. I may have to experiment a little with this to see where i can go. I was hoping it might've been a simple relay pull or whatever. But i suppose since these lights kick on once the car is in Drive, that's not a fool-proof option. I will definitely follow up on my work/findings.

Addendum - I just looked it up... can't believe i didn't check on it before. So what i have are the Spyder sets in black/smoke seen here: Spyder Headlamp set  And the details there do in fact state that the LED/EL strip is supposed to be the DRL. Interesting. So whomever hooked it up hooked it up wrong. Hopefully it's a simple matter of switching connectors/wires.

The ad states that there is no hardware supplied to disable your factory DRL's and activate the LEDs. They are only providing the power wires - not any control module to do what you want. I agree with bbf2530 that you need an experienced installer and it won't be that easy to fix. You probably should not spend the money at the Ford dealer to disable the DRL's until you consult with an installer as they may need to be enabled in any solution he designs.
