BIGTIME57 Posted October 17, 2019 Share Posted October 17, 2019 I have a 15 Fusion titanium in which i replaced the outer door handle on the passenger front door....my problem is the base i call it that inside the door in which the handle mounts to ...the tab broke that clips on the actual door .....how can i get that out to replace ? bbf2530 Posted October 17, 2019 Share Posted October 17, 2019 Hi BIGTIME. Sorry, I am not sure exactly what you are asking. Are you asking how to replace the interior door handle? If yes, then you will need to purchase a new one, then remove the door panel to remove the broken door handle itself for replacement. You can buy it at your local Dealerships parts department or order it online. If you order online, be sure you are getting the OEM part and not a cheap knock-off. If you are asking how to remove the door panel, you can find how-to videos on YouTube. Sorry if I am completely misunderstanding. I took the screw under the handle on the outside off but cant seem to get the inside part off..... Sorry I couldn't help more. As a last resort (if no one else jumps in with a solution), you could take your car to a body shop and ask them to remove the base. I am sure they have done it before. And since you already have the outside handle and door panel off, labor would be minimal. Then you can put everything back together yourself, again avoiding more labor charges. You may need to make an appointment if they are busy, but it might be worth the money to get it done and end the aggravation. BIGTIME57 Posted October 19, 2019 Author Share Posted October 19, 2019 Bbf2530 you have been a help and thanks for your input I went to my body shop I use today and they told me how to take it out ..... it all has to come out to get to it everything but the glass !!! Once it’s all out 2 small push tabs hold it into place ..../ so I know now what my weekend will consist of ...... It's a shame you can't get to the tabs without removing the glass. Well, I'll be doing the yardwork this weekend while you are doing car work.
