frdnut
My son's 2010 SEL with the 3.0 just had the CEL come on. We put a scanner on it and got the PO455 code.- Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected Gross Leak. Possible causes Missing or loose fuel cap Incorrect fuel filler cap used Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks EVAP system hose leaking Fuel tank leaking Is there an easy way to figure out which one of these it may be? The fuel tank is not leaking. We just bought the car so don't have any history on it at all.
bangster
Usually if it is the "gas cap" (in quotes since you have the Easy Fuel cap-less design) you will also get a message in the message center to "Check Fuel Fill Inlet". There is a section of the owners manual that has you take the funnel and open the filler and clean and check for debris. I would start there for sure, but if it isn't showing that message it is probably something else.

Still worth it to take the refueling funnel and exercise the fuel filler flap, as per your Owners Manual. Check the inlet for any debris or contamination and clean/clear if necessary. Then quickly insert and remove the funnel 10 times or so to see if it will reseat the flap. Just don't let the neighbors see you doing it. Don't want them to wonder. ? Let us know how you make out and good luck. Edited October 18, 2019 by bbf2530
drolds1
There are numerous discussions in the forums WRT to P0455 and its possible causes. Please use the 'Search' function above to locate same so that we don't have multiple threads for the same topic.
