JRUCKER0003
So I have a 2014 Ford Fusion SE 1.5L Turbo. It has 80,000 miles on it and it down shifts when going down a hill for no reason to my knowledge. I looked this issue up on this website and see that someone suggest that it is "grade assist." This happens even on the interstate when traveling at 65MPH. Anyone have any suggestions? Not sure if my car is equipped with grade assist.

Does it downshift only with the cruise control enabled?

andyross
My guess is it senses you are off-throttle, but the speed is increasing, so it downshifts to help you slow down.

When using cruise control, the transmission can/will downshift to maintain the set speed. However, it should not be downshifting when cruise control is not engaged.
