2017FusionHybrid
My 2017 fusion does not have a Ford logo. I have attached a photo of what is on it. All my other windows have the ford logo. I'm wondering if this is a replacement windshield. Thanks for any help.
bbf2530
Hi 2017Fusion. I believe that is a replacement windshield. "Carlite" is the Ford and Lincoln windshield/glass brand. Did you purchase your Fusion new or used? Good luck. Edited November 4, 2019 by bbf2530
2017FusionHybrid
Used. It is a certified preowned. The carfax reports 0 accidents but we are finding evidence of it being in an accident. I have emailed the gm of the dealership but have had no response yet.
drolds1
As bbf2530 says, Ford OE glass is labeled Carlite. Fuyao is a Chinese company that claims to be an OEM for major manufacturers, including Ford. They do now have plants in the U.S. I've never seen other than a Carlite w/s in Ford products. What other evidence have seen that this car was in accident. A replacement w/s, in and of itself, shouldn't be a deal-breaker. Accident damage does not necessarily exclude a car from the CPO program. It has to be major accident damage. IDK what their threshold for that is. From the Ford CPO brochure checklist: Quote Body Panels and Bumpers 23 Overall, no evidence of flood, hail, fire or any major damage 24 Body panels not visibly damaged, misaligned, paint not mismatched or poor 25 Bumpers/fascia not visibly damaged, misaligned, no poor paint It does not imply that any accident damage is grounds for exclusion. Quote FRAME- No visible damage, signs of repair or abnormal tire wear. Obvious repair to the unibody would seem to be an exclusion. 2017FusionHybrid
The hood touches the fender. The fender doesn't line up even with the door. There is overspray on the headlight and fog light. The headlight has a manufacture date in 2018 even though it's a 2017. You can see where the paint ran and bubbled on the front bumper. My issue is that we don't know the extent of the damage and that we overpaid for it. The price should have been lower considering it was wrecked and repaired.
bbf2530
Hi 2017. Yes, it appears from those photos that car had some sort of collision/body/paint work performed on it. Edited November 4, 2019 by bbf2530
drolds1
That is some really slapdash repair work. No excuse for that kind of thing and it's a clear violation of the CPO standards posted above. Keep us posted.
sirtanon
I agree with everything that has been said above. Additionally, unless you got a SMOKING deal on that car, I would either go back to the dealer to discuss what you've found, or contact Ford corporate directly to alert them to this issue. This car should never have made it through CPO certification, IMHO, and I would personally be concerned about whether or not future CPO warranty work would be covered.
2017FusionHybrid
Thank you all for the responses. I called ford and they were all no help. I went to the dealer and showed them everything. They are willing to trade us out. I told them I'm not taking a loss and they are paying the whole amount owed. They are unwilling to just buy it back so we are kind of stuck on options. Hopefully they can find us another car.
drolds1
That's all well and good but it certainly doesn't inspire confidence in the highly-touted Ford CPO program. Did they offer any explanation of how this one "slipped through the cracks?"
bangster
Yup, CPO means that you should be able to buy it sight unseen and without an inspection and it meets all those requirements. But...I think I would have easily spotted all those things (but...I don't shop for nice or CPO, I shop for worn but not too worn) with 10 minutes with the car, I tend to not be distracted by nice and shiny and stuff until I looked at obvious places. I still think that you should have more grounds for it not being an acceptable vehicle and that you shouldn't need to wait for them to find a straight across replacement.
2017FusionHybrid
So far they have failed to find anything and are only offering to buy back at the purchased price. The sales director expects us to take a loss after saying he would pay off the note. Ridiculous.

If that car was sold to you as never being in an accident or having had bodywork/painting, they should buyback the car and you should be made whole and refunded the full amount of all you have paid. What do you mean "they have failed to find anything"? That paint over-spray is a definite sign of some sort of bodywork. Keep us updated and good luck.
2017FusionHybrid
They were supposed to try and find something close to what we had and trade us out. The sales director called and told me he was only paying what we bought it for and expected us to be out all the taxes and fees. I went above him and his boss agreed that we should have never been sold the car without it being disclosed as being in an accident. He said he pay off the note completely.

What drolds1 stated. Happy to hear the Dealership eventually decided to do the right thing. Good luck.
