Angel Morrison
Nicely done, gave me a good laugh but it's true. I test drove a 2013 Fusion SE 2.0 eco last week with about 50,000 miles on it, after coming out of a very slow Chevy HHR, and I was stunned by the speed. If you check historical performance stats, it shows the Fusion matching some very potent muscle cars from the 60s and 70s. Perfect for an old geezer like me. And fuel efficient! I will pick the "EcoBeast" up this week.

We only like them because they were cool looking.
mozz
"If you check historical performance stats, it shows the Fusion matching some very potent muscle cars from the 60s and 70s" Maybe 1 or 2 not many though. Show us the info you found. Quarter mile times? 15 or 16 seconds is slow compared to a car which is in the 13's. If you believe any of those HP ratings they give today, or EPA ratings, i have a bridge to sell you.
WKelley
Car is rated for a 15 second quarter mile time, anything pre-1972 with 327CI or higher will easily drop a 14 second and anything with a big block (muscle car wise) will drop 13 second quarter mile times on street tires and 87 octane gas. The 2.0 Ecoboost is rated for 237hp on high test, that's not shabby for an econobox like the Fusion, but that is not much. It will certainly pound my N/A 2.5L into the ground, but there are a massive wealth of cars that can easily take it.
mozz
You are talking useless. How many 71 or earlier cars do you actually see driving everyday on the road, i bet none. Maybe a holiday or a nice weather weekend. I doubt any 2.0 is even in the 14's. Stock 1970 chevelle ss 454 only did 13.8, and that was a fast car, my stock Mustang was tested at 13.9, any 2.0 won't come close to those numbers.

There are special modification I made myself, she doesn't look like much but she's got it where it counts.

There are lots of heavily modified 4cyl cars with 800HP+ as well as some sixes.

You are exactly right. 4 cylinders will grenade at that power level where a SB or BB Chevy will run for 100,000's of miles.
piratepress
As far as I'm concerned, the 2017-2019 Fusion Sport is the only one deserving of the "EcoBeast" badge. 400hp with a tune and AWD is a pretty potent combination.
