bangster
Not sure what all "Driveline" includes. Driveline is generally the transmission, driveshaft (in a RWD or AWD vehicle), axles (half shafts and CV joints in FWD and IRS) and differentials and transfer cases/PTUs (AWD/4WD). Without knowing exactly what that means it would be a very wild guess. If you mean for 2 half shafts w/CV joints and all 4 wheel bearings...axles and CV joints are $120 each side max for FWD. Wheel bearings are often done as an assembly with hubs, those can be $100 a wheel for the front FWD and $60 for rear for FWD. So if that is all "Driveline and wheel bearings" encompasses, parts could be $560 if using premium parts, Motorcraft if available. Much cheaper if using low end parts ($50 each axle, $40 for front hub and bearing each, $40 for each rear hub so ~$260 for parts). Labor is usually $100-$120 an hour, not sure how much labor is involved for all of that. Edited November 15, 2019 by bangster
miliysilly
Wow thank you for all this info! The mechanic doesnt speak very clear English , but he did lift the car and showed me the "Driveline "area and there was a grinding noise coming from it . This part was under the center line of the car , running from the front to the back of the car . Can the "driveshaft "and "drive line " be similar or the same thing ? He said the driveline kit would be about 700 for parts ....
bangster
So your Sport is AWD, the driveshaft is $250->$400, again $400 is the invoice price for Ford/Motorcraft through some online dealers, list price is $560. If it needs the driveshaft and multiple wheel bearings or hub/bearings then that is probably a competitive price, I have changed out plenty of hubs, but not sure how many hours of labor the driveshaft would be, probably not 8 hours (8x$100 labor and $560 MSRP Ford driveshaft).
