Just over the past week my 2013 2.0 ecoboost fusion has just randomly shut off about 4 times. seems it is always if I have been running it then shut it off for a short time. get in. start it up. take off and it just shuts off.  has always started right back up but it cranks for a few seconds.  (longer than normal.).   I know it is a long shot but anyone have an idea what it could be?  If I take it to my dealer I know it won't do it for them.   thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi bullet. No check engine light? No other warning lights? Extremely difficult to diagnose over the Internet, especially with little information.

Try going to your local AutoZone or other large auto parts stores that reads DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) for free. Have them give you a printout of any stored codes. At least that may give you a place to start.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Hey bbf2530. sorry, just saw your reply.  I appreciate it.  I know next to impossible to diagnose over internet.  No check engine lights or any warning lights.  nothing. everything is as normal.  it is always after driven for awhile and if I stop somewhere for like 5 or 10 minutes. start it up and it acts dumb.  kinda spits and sputters. even if I give it the gas it won't do anything.  finally stalls.  so I restart. cranks for longer than normal but starts.  after that it runs and drives fine.

Hi bullet. Did you go to an AutoZone or any other auto store that will scan for stored codes? You could have stored codes, even without warning lights. The possibility of codes would be the most reliable way anyone could possibly point you in a direction to begin diagnosis.

Good luck.

2016 Fusion 2.0l SE Ecoboost...13,500 miles; started stalling  after short periods of shutoff like going into grocery store; no codes, have appointment with dealer next week...service writer said the majority of time it is a throttle body replacement issue, and not so much fuel rail sensors...will find out next week
