zachjimike
I have a 2014 Ford fusion 2.5l 6-speed auto. What would it take to Swap for the 2.3l eco bost crate engine?
bangster
A lot of time, money, and skills. Almost any swap can be done if it is within physical limits, and that probably is.
zachjimike
I know that the subframe of a mustang can almost bolt up with only one bracket change. Wouldnt mind trying to find a wrecked RS and do a powertrain swap too and have AWD. Just Trying to see if anyone has done it before. Got a good deal on the 2.5 but I need some BOOST in my life.
bangster
$6k for crate motor $3k for control pack If it would bolt up to the transmission the 2.3 has double the torque of the 2.5, so I suspect the transmission won't hold up, don't know if a 6F50/55 bolts to the 2.3 (was used in the MKZ so should fit).

AFAIK, the 6F50/55 has never been used with any I-4 engine, so it's not going to bolt up. Unless you have the time, money, skills, and facilities and just want to see if it can be done, I'd trade the car for a 2.0EB AWD and modify that.
akirby
It's almost impossible on a modern car to swap to a non factory drivetrain and have everything function properly. It's so much easier and probably cheaper to just trade up to get what you want.
