Hello forum friends!

Sorry for the bad English, this conversation is being conducted by Google Translate!

I have a Ford Fusion V6 AWD with errors P0420 and P0430 (low catalyst efficiency) and I have been trying for over a year and a half to find out if this is really the catalyst, all the nozzles, the spark plugs and 3 lambda probes (only 1 does not exist to buy here), I took in several workshops, including Ford itself and no one to this day can attest if it is indeed the catalyst (seems to be perfect) I am considering to be an "insoluble" problem so I would like to testing these extenders on the post probes (https://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-924167501-bypass-prolongador-da-sonda-lambda-universal-extensor-curto-_JM?quantity=1) in order to "trick" the car center into thinking that the catalyst is "ok", I know the correct thing would be to change the catalytic converters but because it is an exorbitantly priced intercession piece outside from reality, (at least here in Brazil) I refuse to spend so much just to pollute less. It's commendable the concern for the environment but it's dirty as this piece is, it should be a universal "interchangeable" piece instead of being interi This is costing a fortune.

Can this protractor help me in this regard?

Can anybody help me?

Any solution tips?

You state that you replaced "3 lambda probes" - are you meaning the upstream and downstream O2 sensors.

Yes, the intention was to change as 4 but one of them, a post catalyst probe from the front, no catalog from Ford of Brazil now comes to the Fusion V6 2009/2010 which is a round blue socket and in my year 2011 is a different probe, the socket is almost square black, it is a single probe that has not been replaced (BE5A-9G444-DA) because it simply does not exist in Brazil.
Not even Ford got it, ordered it 3 times and all came wrong.

Yes, as shipping to Brazil is a bit bureaucratic (the Brazilian system makes it very difficult, I have already waited more than 90 days to release a small import) I am trying to get an address from Paraguay (I live on the border) however, I believe the problem of my car goes beyond that probe, it may actually be the catalyst but I never got an accurate diagnosis for that.

Do you have an alternative method in the USA to exclude the monitoring of catalysts electronically? So to exclude / eliminate them?

Good night people!

Finally today, I was able to install the probe extensions and unfortunately we did not solve 100%

Probe extension that can be obtained https: //produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-924167501-bypass-prolongador-da-sonda-lambda-lambda-universal-extensor-curto-_JM? Quantity = 1] here

This was a test with a Ford Fusion V6 post catalyst probe 2009/2010, 2011/2011 (my case) are different

This is the code in the Ford catalog, however, it is for 2009/2010, the order has already been placed 3x for 2011/2012 ( BE5A-9G444-DA [/ url]) and all these wrong (model 2009/2010)

Ford's second item is the same app in Fusion 2.3 (2006 to 2009)

But let's go to the test:

It was not easy to withdraw,

2 extenders were used in the 2 rounds after the use of "deceiving" a probe to the extent that the ECU understands that the catalyst is ok.

Errors that have always persisted, I have been with the car for a year and a half, several diagnoses have been carried out in several places, several tests and so far with no concrete solution.

When the ECU errors are erased, it goes into a kind of internal diagnosis where it follows these steps until it defines whether there is a malfunction or not (Ford's stuff) to know if the car is in this situation, you turn on the key (without starting it) ) without engine) and after 15 seconds after the injection flashes 8x.

During this diagnosis, I don't know what the process is, but I do know that this "catalytic" is the last one and needs to walk in a constancy for about 10 miles (10 km) or after completing the information system that exists or not.

Average cooling and transmission temperature.

After 19km test completed successfully! This was an unprecedented situation, since I had never completed the treatment with injection light until I celebrated in advance ... I thought I had really succeeded.

After this early celebration, I had to go back those 19 km, turn the car off and on (be part of the internal diagnosis) and accelerate, and for a few minutes at 180 km / h at 3,500 turns (without forcing)

During this acceleration, after 140-150, a little more than usual to reach 180, he realizes that when he accelerates "strong", it is not the first moment when a very bad smell invades the car (it looks like a pit) and then passes and doesn't happen anymore.

Then I went back to an average of 100-120 km / h and an ECU identified an error !! After 16 km, he received an injection of light !!

To my surprise and for the first time, just accusing an error that would be just 1 of the catalysts, I am disconnected from this single post probe that has not been exchanged, which is exactly the post probe from Bank 2 (P0430) or that further reinforces this theory:

I very much wish that the extenders would have resolved immediately because they eliminated the damned catalysts or that normally are already made in Rangers, Amaroks, etc ... But unlike those cars that easily recover or modify (catalyst for example), unfortunately, the Fusion G1 and G2 according to research carried out it is not possible to redo a module via obd2, only physically or also making it unfeasible for this use.

Unfortunately this soap opera continues in the next few days, you will change this probe as soon as you can and continue the tests, you are not discarding a catalyst exchanger to pay for a fortune and still run the risk of not solving it, you need to do maintenance on the gimbal and if I whoever chooses which will be the first will surely be the cardan who will be less certain about the problem and the solution.

The catalyst ....

Sorry for the long texts and the various images but I thought it was important to vent and share a summary about this problem, I hope one day I will be able to solve and help other Fusion owners with the same problem.

Doubts? Suggestions? They will be very welcome!

Thank you very much in advance.
