Hi, I have a 2014 ford fusion titanium AWD and it started throwing a code for a turbo over boosting I have been looking and I'm seeing that it may be an issue with the waste gate but shortly after this my AWD stopped working its coming up on the dash "AWD Temporarily Disengaged" but it doest seem to come back on can this be an issue from the turbo? could the turbo be causing the AWD to heat up and shut off ? when I get the turbo fixed will the AWD come back ? I have all the same size tires on the car they were all purchased at the same time. thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Rory. Welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. Sorry it had to be about a problem.

We have several tech members who will hopefully jump in with more precise knowledge.

In the meantime, here is my blind Internet, shade-tree mechanic answer: A turbo overboost issue should not cause "...the AWD to heat up and shut off".

A few questions for perspective. How long ago did the turbo overboost and disengaged AWD problems begin? Yesterday/ A week ago? A month ago?

Do you drive your car hard? Were you doing donuts in the snow or something similar when this happened? Not accusing you of doing those things, but the way the car is driven is very relevant.

In my experience, the two issues would not normally be mechanically/system related. But hopefully one of our tech members will weigh in.

Keep us updated and good luck.

it was on and off but now its off totally, in my original post I forgot to mention that I have a wonky strut in the back thats going to need to be replaced (Roads are really bad for potholes where I'm at). I have not been driving it hard but it seem to do it anytime I had any slight tire spin in the snow (not heavy snow).

Hi Rory. Problems like this are extremely difficult to diagnose over the Internet. Is your Fusion still with the 5 year/60,000 mile Powertrain Warranty? The issue may be covered under warranty.

You didn't answer the questions I asked above. Such as how long ago did the turbo overboost and disengaged AWD problems begin? Yesterday/a week ago/a month ago? Also, how soon after the turbo overboost issue began did the AWD issue occur? Immediately/a day/a week, etc.

Were you doing donuts in the snow or something similar when this first happened? If it did, you may have permanently damaged the AWD system. Again, not accusing you of doing those things, but the way the car is/was being driven can be very relevant.

Again, hopefully one of our tech members will jump in with deeper knowledge.

Keep us updated and good luck.

I bought the car for my mother their is no warranty left on the car, she had told me its been doing it for a couple of months so no the car wasn't doing donuts or being driven hard she only drives it back and forth to work she doesn't know exactly when it came on but its been a few months. the Sturt in th back she said started making noises about 3 weeks ago.
