sleepysam22
Hello all, 2019 Ford Fusion se with adaptive cruise and lane keeping (co pilot360) . Last night by accident I struck a curb on passenger side. Thankfully zero damage to car or suspension. As a piece of mind I took it to my dealer for inspection. The vehicle was slightly out of alignment as a result however due to the car having the lane keeping system with the front end alignment I would have to have the lane keeping system recalibrated at a cost of $280 including alignment. My question is do I need to have this recalibrated with a minor adjustment on front toe and rear toe? Hopefully there's someone or a master tech who can answer this correctly. Thank you all.

Hi sleepysam. In most cases like this, it is difficult for us to Internet second guess a tech who has had his hands on the car. However, here is a suggestion: Have them perform the alignment and whatever physical repairs they may need to perform, but not the Lane Keep re-calibration. After the alignment, drive the car. If the Lane Keep works as it should, you are good to go and saved some money. If there is a problem, you need the re-calibration. Let us know how you make out and good luck.

sleepysam22
Thanks for the quick response. Luckily this was my dealers first experience with this and they only charged me for the alignment. The calibration was done and all is fine. Thanks again for your help

Happy to hear it worked out for the best. Now stay away from those curbs and good luck.
Waldo
I don't get it, the lane keeping system has nothing at all to do with the vehicle alignment. There is a calibration procedure for the adaptive cruise control radar module. That could be required if it got bumped when you hit the curb, but that has nothing to do with the vehicle alignment or the lane keeping system. So what exactly did they do?
sleepysam22
With the copilot 360 it has sensors in the camera mounted in the windshield to monitor the lanes. Any alignment adjustment WILL throw off the camera and sensors and you will get a system malfunction error. I very clearly saw on the hunter alignment rack this procedure come up with instructions. There is also a YouTube video explaining this. YouTube ford vehicle alignment with lane keeping system and you can see for yourself. Welcome to the world of vehicle technology I guess
