Wac310 Posted April 17, 2020 Share Posted April 17, 2020 Hello all, i just bought a new 2019 Ford Fusion Se the other day. At around the 90 mile mark I started running into an issue. It came with the pop up that pre-collision assist was not available. I took it into the dealer they are working on it. The computer said that the cruise control was not working. They required the cruise control and grounded it. The error message is still coming up. I was wondering if anyone had the same issue and what the remedy was. My dealership submitted an inquiry to Ford Tech. They should be able to diagnose this using the shop manual without consulting Ford tech. Their system said there was an error with the cruise control so they went ahead and fixed it. If you paid a shop to perform the work, I would return and have them check the car over to see what they may have accidentally disconnected/damaged etc. Also, did you replace all four tires with snow tires? All the same size? Next...is there a chance (hopefully) that your 2017 Fusion is still within the 3 year/36,000 mile New Car Warranty? If yes, make an appointment to have the problem properly diagnosed and corrected. Another possibility: How old is the battery? If it is the original factory battery, it may be a good idea to replace it. Modern cars are heavily electronic/electrically dependent, and a weak/failing battery can cause a multitude of electrical gremlins. Last...although it is too late now, in the future it would be better to begin your own new thread, instead of piggybacking onto the thread of someone else that is actually about a different problem. I could really use some help here cause I love this car, I have never been a Ford man but this sure has changed that. I paid cash for this car and am now broke but the safety feature is killing me. Wac310 Posted February 12, 2021 Author Share Posted February 12, 2021 So for me it was a wiring harness that was getting pinched. I’m not sure exactly where but they were able to figure it out. It was covered under warranty. I’m almost 19000 miles in on it and it still drives like the day I got it back in April. If yes, the best course of action is to make a service appointment at your Dealership, and let the problem be properly diagnosed and corrected. I got it from a used car lot, so is it transferred over to the next owner ? Also does anyone have a picture of the bracket of the sensor that is behind the drivers side fog light ? Mine is bent and if I cant have ford replace it I'm going to have to straighten it out and try to fix this myself tell I can get the cash to have ford do it. As akirby stated, your vehicle is covered under the factory warranty whether purchased new or used. Both the 3 year/36,000 mile and the 5 year/60,000 mile Powertrain Warranties are connected to the vehicle, not the owner. A "bent bracket"? How did it get bent? If in an accident or other non factory defect issue, it would not be covered under warranty, unless you have a friendly and understanding Dealership. But it never hurts to try. If the manufacturer offers a longer warranty, the balance of the remainder automatically transfers to the new owner after the sale of the vehicle. It would have been nice had the dealer who sold you the car advised you of this. In fact, it's a selling point. That said, I strongly suggest that you register as the new owner on the Ford owner website. This way, any communications from Ford, such as service specials, recall information, etc. will reach you. There's a wealth of information there as well that will help you understand the various features your car has to offer.
