Im new to the sport section. I just bought a used 2017 Fusion Sport magnetic gray color 1 week ago at a Ford Dealership. 34k miles on it. Immaculate condition. Had some questions about it. What is recommended or better fuel for it, 87 or 91 octane is there a benefit using either besides improved performance for the higher 91 ? Also it has new Michelin Primacy all season tires on it. What you guys think of these tires? Any performance upgrades you guys recommend for the sport to boost more power ?

Hi Hybrid10. 87 octane is fine. Using 91 or 93 octane fuel will give slightly better performance, but no improvement in fuel mileage (apples to apples comparisons of fuel from same company). Your Fusion Sport's engine management system will adjust for any fuel, from 87 to 93 octane. You can verify all of this information in your Owners Manual.

Expert sources will also verify that while higher octane can/will give better performance in modern vehicles which have an engine management system set up to benefit from it, higher octane will not/does not improve fuel mileage. However, some people will give you anecdotal stories of how they feel it gave them better fuel mileage.

The Primacy MXM4 is a good tire. I also have them on my 2018 Lincoln MKZ.

I'll leave the performance boost suggestions to the opinion of others.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

That is good info to know. Pretty good feature it runs of several fuels. Yea i bought this car for fun and also for the snow trips. Wonder how it handles in the snow. I will be taking it to Tahoe in the winter time.

Hi Hybrid10. You are very welcome.

Concerning winter/snow handling: The Fusion Sport is an AWD car. The tires are the only part of your car that actually touches the road, so the most important factor in winter/snow handling is tires. Your car most likely has all-season tires on it. So tread depth will be important. If they are the original/factory tires with 34,000 miles, you can assume they are pretty worn and will not handle snow very well. So if they are the original tires, the best thing you could do for snow handling would be to replace the tires before next winter.

If you want the best snow handling possible, get a set of dedicated winter tires.

If you don't want to deal with changing tires/wheels in the late fall and late spring, you can go with a good set of all-season tires like what is probably on your car already.

There are lot of existing threads discussing opinions on good replacement tires. And The Tire Rack is a good source for tire information, Their prices are also very good. Discount Tire is alo pretty good. Also, if you are a Costco member, they have pretty unbeatable pricing on tires. However, their brand choice is more limited than The Tire Rack.

Thank you that is good to know. So the car has brand new tires as i could see and also i have the car fax app and it shows it has brand new tires installed at 33k miles from Ford my car has 34k miles now. Michelin Primacy mxv4 mxv4 m+s so far they handle very good on pavement. I should be good. My sport will only be driven a couple thousand miles per year since i have also have a 2017-fusion hybrid as my daily car i use for work. I love how the sport drives/handles and is fast if you need the power. I just want to mod it a bit a cold air intake be my first mod if i do.

Here she is. I had the windows tinted few days ago. 35% front 2 roll ups and 5% back 3 rear and 5% front eyebrow. I need to find a good front license plate bracket for the front of the car since California i will get a fix it ticket eventually if i get caught. Just a matter of time.
