DOYLEJ9
Hello, I'm a newbie to performing maintenance on a Fusion and am looking for some guidance on how to replace a valve cover gasket on a 1.6L turbo motor. I recently hit 100K miles and changed the spark plugs out and noticed oil on the coil pack boots and on top of the plugs. From what I can tell there is no oil in the combustion chamber and I've had no symptoms what so ever of burning oil or misfires. From what I can tell and have researched this is due to a leaking valve cover gasket but I can not find any specific "how to" videos or steps. Even the Haynes manual doesn't cover 1.6L engines. Ford wants to charge $450 for parts and labor and I can't help be feel that that is high for 2.7 hrs of labor and the only part that I can find that I'd need is a gasket priced around $30 bucks average. Am I missing something? The tech I spoke to says there are three separate gaskets but I can't find a good break down anywhere.. Does anyone have a step by step "how to" or maybe provide any pre cautions I should consider prior to tearing into the task? Are there spark plug tube seals that need to be replaced? If so where are they located, on the cover itself? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
drolds1
Poorly done video but apparently, it's not that difficult. https://youtu.be/_RPAm-rYIKo
