2019 Fusion SEL

Hey fellow fusion owners.
Just purchased a 19’ SEL with 15k.

At the dealer, they snuck in extended service plan/extended warranty and GAP.

I already have a cancellation request submitted. Does anybody else have thoughts on products? It seems to me, the factory and certified pre-owned warrant covers almost identical the the ESP, and it was just a trick by the finance guy to add it.
What do you guys think of the warranty?
I like to do some work myself, and do not plan on going to the dealer for maintenance all the time.
What tips do you have to keep the fusion riding good?

Thanks!

Hi BigRem. Impossible to answer your question without knowing exactly which ESP/FordProtect Plan they sold you, the selling price etc. The PremiumCare Plans cover more than the CPO warranty and can have a $0 deductible. It can also have much higher deductibles. And some FordProtect Plans cover far less. So information is key here.

However, with that being said, you can probably purchase a Ford PremiumCare ESP from any of the online sellers we have discussed here in the past, for far less than the Dealer charged you. It is also relatively safe to assume they did not charge you a great price, since they snuck it in. So I would go ahead and cancel the plan the Dealer "snuck" in.

If you ra3e interested in purchasing from one of the online sellers, you can do a site search for the existing threads, or just ask and we can point you in the right direction.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I will disclose it was the Ford protect premium at a price of $2,050. From what I see in the paperwork the coverage is virtually the same as factory warranty. Oh well, at least I can cancel. Later down the road I can add one, closer to factory warranty expiration I think.
thanks

Hi BigRem. You are welcome. A few points though: First, sorry I was not precise enough in my earlier post, but further information would still be needed, since there are varying levels of coverage, even on the PremiumCare Plans (if that is what you have). For example, the price will vary by the contract deductible chosen, whether you have LED Lighting Coverage, Key Coverage, Supplemental/First Day Rental Car coverage, etc.

Also, as mentioned above, if you decide to get an ESP later, you can purchase a FordProtect New Vehicle Plan as long as your Fusion is still within the 3 year/36,000 mile New Car Warranty period. There will be a $100 fee added to the negotiated contract price. As I stated above, you will be able to purchase the FordProtect Plans for less than your Dealers price at any of the online sellers listed in other threads on the Ford Fusion Forum.

Good luck with your new Fusion!

Gotcha, that’s why it seemed sneaky. They did not explain the options or benefits or give me a choice. It’s pretty much double coverage, it looks like. Deductible is $100.

Hi BigRem. Yes, it was deceptive of them to hide the contract add-ons in the first place.  To give yourself an idea of how much you can save buying the FordProtect Plan online, you can work up an online price here: https://www.zeiglerfordesp.com/

After extensive online and local Dealer price shopping, I have purchased my last three LincolnProtect/ESP Plans from Ziegler. They have been the lowest price offered every time. Next lowest was always Flood Ford (about $25 higher each time). You can find many more online sellers by Googling "Ford ESP Plans".

Hope this information helps and good luck.

Hi again BigRem. Some added info, just to give you a general idea: I forget the exact amount, but the price from Ziegler for the LinconProtect on my 2018 Lincoln MKZ was ~$1780. That is a PremiumCare Plan, with $0 deductible, LED Lighting Coverage, Key Coverage and standard rental car coverage (no first day upgrade). While not a direct car to car comparison, it gives you an idea of how much you can save by purchasing online from a reputable seller.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Thanks bbf2530, I checked out the website and will think it over.
