17 LED High and Low Beams

Recommended Posts

I have a 17 with halogen bulbs. I ordered a set of Lasfit LEDs for high and low beams and pretty excited to install them since I have good experience with this brand. Well they don't fit, the socket is correct and the plug but the bulb itself wont go into the headlight assembly. It has a fan on the LED bulb preventing this. What other 6k LED bulbs worth while using that will fit the fusion? I am willing to pay for good bulbs since these cost $130 per set.

Thanks

Hi Lunareclipse. The unfortunate answer is that no LED retrofit bulbs will work properly in a halogen headlight housing. The housing and reflector are designed and manufactured for the light dispersion of a halogen bulb, not LED (or HID) bulbs. Light dispersion will not meet minimum DOT standards, will blind oncoming drivers etc.

The above answer does not even deal with the fact that it is illegal to retrofit HID or LED bulbs into a headlight housing not expressly designed for them. In fact, if you read the fine print on any of these aftermarket/retrofit bulbs and their websites, you will see they will state, "For off-road use only". This is to release them for the liability of a buyer illegally using them for on-road use.

This had been discussed many times on this site and others, and there are many links to the illegality of these aftermarket retrofit bulbs.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
