TPrimeaux
What's up guys! New here! Just recently purchased a 2012 Fusion Sport. I've noticed a knocking noise coming from the front passenger side area. Before I dive into the diagnosis tomorrow, has anyone ever had this problem if so, what caused it? Also, the driver side interior handles are halfway broken, I have some handles ordered just curious to see if it's a common problem. Thanks in advance! ?
andyross
If the knocking noise is heard at slight turning or when starting/stopping, it could be a common issue with some bushings getting very tight in warmer weather. The fix is to replace some suspension parts. There is a known issue with the interior door handles where a pin breaks and you can't open the door. Not sure what you mean by halfway-broken. I haven't had issues yet, but did buy a replacement drivers door handle that is metal instead of plastic.

Hi TPrimeaux and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. What kind of knocking? Engine knock? Suspension knock? If you mean a suspension knock, when does it occur? When you drive over bumps? Driving on smooth roads? When turning? When sitting still? Blind internet diagnosis with limited information would point to something in the front right suspension, as andyross mentioned. Could be anything in the front suspension. Struts, ball joints, control arm bushings, sway-bar bushings/links, etc etc. If you mean an engine knock, that is obviously much more serious and blind Internet diagnosis is even less useful. Concerning the interior door handle: it is not an uncommon problem. I had my drivers door handle break on my 2007 MKZ. It is an easy replacement for anyone moderately handy with a screwdriver. There are How-to videos available available online by Googling, "replace door handle on 2012 Fusion": https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=replace+door+handle+on+2012+Fusion Let us know how you make out and good luck.
