Lunareclipse02
I have a 17 Fusion with halogen headlights without led signature strip. One of my headlights is scuffed badly that cannot be repaired. I am wanting to buy some aftermarket headlights that will be a direct plug and play. I want a led signature strip and maybe LED beams. Any suggestions on what brand. Don't see many options online.

To be honest, your only legitimate option is to purchase and install the upgraded factory headlamps from the Platinum/Titanium models. And that will be relatively expensive, unless you can source them at a decent price from a Salvage Yard. Aftermarket kits run the gamut of any/all combinations of illegal, poorly made, cheap etc. And you can not just stick HID or LED bulbs into a halogen headlight assembly. I'm sure others will jump in with their own thoughts and opinions. Good luck.
Lunareclipse02
Will my factory harness work with the Platinum/Titanium headlights? Since mine doesn't have the LED strip will my harness give power to the light?

My educated guess would be no, you would need to source and install another harness and connectors, and/or an additional harness. But that is just a guess. Perhaps one of our tech members knows the answer and will jump in. Good luck.
testriderchuck
I wanted to replace with LED/s too, mostly longer life and having to disassemble the ENTIRE front end to replace a bulb isn't something I want to do very often (375 miles a night, 6 nights a week). So I got a set of 6. The low's went in OK but the light pattern is significantly differently from the halogens, most of the light is right in front of the vehicle, dont need it there. Havent tried pulling them out slightly, that might make a difference... I thought this might be an issue due to possible placement of the light source being someplace other than the focus of the reflector. Hmmm The high bulbs wouldn't lock in place, the wire bail thingy hits the heat sink, plus the access opening isn't very well thought out. repositioning the core support would've helped. So, I may have to go back to tearing the front end apart periodically. grrr

You hit the nail on th head with your theory that it is due to the "placement of the light source being someplace other than the focus of the reflector". Halogen, HID and LED automotive lighting all need different reflectors and/or projector housings. They each project light differently, so the headlight housings must be designed differently in order to refract and aim their light properly. They can not be freely interchanged in the same housings. I will not even get into the legality/illegality of altering the factory lighting systems on modern cars. As you discovered, your best course of action is to revert back to the factory bulbs. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
