dennyneal55
Car goes into limp mode. Turn off and back on and it runs fine for a while then does it again. The longer it's off the longer it runs. Ford dealer says temp sensor in transmission. Also says not repairable must replace transmission. $14,000! Does this sound right? Well...Possibly and no. It could possibly be a "temperature sensor? However, we will need one of our tech members to jump in to discuss if that possibility exists and whether the sensor is replaceable. I would think it would be. But I am not a tech. What definitely does not sound correct is the new transmission cost. I would recommend getting second and third opinions. Try another Ford or Lincoln Dealer. And/or try a private shop that works on Hybrids. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
dennyneal55
Thanks. I'm trying shops that specialize in hybrids. The Ford dealer also said there is only 1 available in their data base. Sound a little odd to me.
VonoreTn
Denny, Find a friend with a diagnostic code reader, read the codes, and get back to us with the code number. I have an Innova 3030g, got it for about $55 new online. It does engine, chassis and body codes, which includes brakes and tire pressure sensors. The engine doesn't need to be running to read the codes, just have the key turned to on. I had similar behavior on 2010 FFH, and it was code 2112, throttle body sticking shut. I fixed it for free by cleaning the inside of the throttle body which was coated with black carbon, at 112K miles. Now at 148K, no problems.
