StephMcC
I just bought a 2012 Ford Fusion and was not aware that it had ambient lighting until after I bought it. The ambient lighting does not work. When I press the button, nothing happens. Everything else in the car works perfect - heated seats, dimming rear view mirror - etc. I tried putting in a new fuse and that made no difference. What could be causing the issue and how do I fix it?

First, if you are following the Ambient Lighting instructions in the Owners Manual and they are not working, there could be a blown fuse (you checked that), a short or other wiring/ground issue, a problem with the switch, etc etc. How to fix it would entail troubleshooting the possibilities listed. It may need to be diagnosed by a Ford Dealer or independent shop/tech that can do electrical/electronic troubleshooting. Next...how long ago did you purchase your Fusion? Did you purchase from a Ford Dealer/other Dealer, or was it a private sale? If you purchased from a Dealer, is there any warranty? If yes, have the Dealer repair it. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
megaspeed
When mine stopped working, I've investigated a little bit, and it turned out that there was a disconnected wire under the center console. It is very easy to remove the plastic center console cover and underneath the coup-holders was where I saw the disconnected cabling. Snapped it back together and ambient light worked again. Here's a quick video how to remove that center console.
