alcohenusa
The 36 month factory warranty starts from the original in-service date, not the manufacture date. You should be able to find out the in-service date from any dealer or Ford Customer Service. You will also need to be under the 36,000 mile limit. As far as the smoke smell, you may need to have the vehicle professionally treated or you could look into purchasing an ozone generator and try to take care of it yourself. Mary M
I also have a 2020 Ford Fusion that I've owned since day one. Non smoker. The rear package tray is disintegrating. I am way beyond the 3 year 36000 mile warranty but never had a car do this before. Clearly a defective product. Would love to know who the supplier was for this part. Sub par product for sure. I think my only hope at this point is to call Ford Customer service and see if I can get any resolution without paying lots of money.
Helixal
It’s worth a try. Ford should have recalled the cars made with this batch of material. If that fails get a carpet reminant and cut it to fit the shelf. It should work fine. Edited December 11, 2023 by Helixal
WKelley
As much as I agree that they should, but they will not issue a recall for cosmetic items. For what we pay cars/trucks/SUV's are built like crap.
Helixal
Another route would be to contact your dealer and ask him to deal with ford on your behalf. If he’s a descent sort he will take care of you. But don’t count on it.
vbuster01
Has anyone vacuumed off the black fibers? What does it look like?

Behind the rear seats under back window. This is not from a Pet or from detergents. I don’t have a pet and this area doesn’t get cleaned. It’s just defective. Bringing it in to dealer. Hey, don't mean to bump an old thread. Also not really worried about it in my 2020 but yes it happened in mine too. Went to give a good cleaning then bam the fuzz was all over the rag guess it was just cheaply made for the last year. I'll probably replace with an aftermarket one with grilles for the speakers.
Helixal
My replacement is now 3 years old and it's fine. Just a bad batch and poor quality control. Al
