Deb67
2013 1.6l EcoBoost fwd code had the code for canister purge valve show up. Replaced it but cel still on. Is there a way to reset the code or what else could make that specific code stay on after replacing the canister purge valve?
twiggy144
An OBD reader can erase the codes. Codes of certain types will erase by themselves after the ECM does not read the faulty condition anymore after a number of driving cycles, typically 3 driving cycles. I do not know if the evap purge valve code falls in this type. Good luck.

Is there a way to reset the code or what else could make that specific code stay on after replacing the canister purge valve? Hi Deb. In addition to the information twiggy144 provided: How did you determine the canister purge valve was the issue? What was the particular DTC in your case? Most DTC codes do not specify a precise cause. They usually give a list of possible causes/issues, what to begin looking at, along with a trouble shooting tree. So it is entirely possible the canister purge valve was only one possible cause. It is entirely possible the code may clear after a number of driving cycles, as twiggy144 stated. However, if it does not, then there is probably another issue that needs to be corrected. Post back with the code and we may be able to help. Good luck.
