ok dont know where my other post went but I checked ot last night on my Montreal highway speedo went right to the 200kmh point my rpm was around 5200 then she cut, the car seams to beable to go faster as I was still accelerating when she cut....the GPS says 207kmh I held it at 195ish almost 200 for around 25 secs and slowed down as there was a few cars comin...(this was around 3am on the hiway 25 north just outside Mascouche quebec the car was really stable and I "felt" pretty safe.....this weekend Im gonna take a video of it and show you....

I had your other post deleted. Factor in speedometer error, and 195kmh (120mph) is going to be around 117mph which is what I said all along. You're the one who was claiming 220kmh+, or, 136mph.

I know people who have chipped their Fusions, and disabled the governor. They get about 125mph out of them before wind resistance overtakes the 205lb/ft of torque generated by the 3.0. Those are facts. 300lb/ft of torque takes my Mustang over 140mph. Enjoy blowing up your Fusion.

I pegged my 2010 Sport at 120+. The car was very stable and I was only in 5th and not at the redline. The only problem i had was the hood started to cavitate which wasn't good. I backed off and not pleased with the hoods aerodynamics.

That's a different car than the 06 SEL we're discussing...I was wondering about those though. I can't find anything about them online as far as performance numbers. My Wife's Edge has the 3.5 in it, and that thing is pretty quick when you punch it. And about 1500lbs heavier than the Fusion.

There are several things that happen with the 06-09 (mine included) Fusion SEL's with the 3.0 that prevent it from going 8 million miles an hour.

1. It only has 205 lb/ft of torque. You can't make up for that number with any bolt on, other than a turbo, or supercharger.

2. The governor kicks in at 117ish. You can chip it, but read number 3, below...

3. The car is in 6th gear, which is overdrive, at anything over 90mph and there isn't a chip to fix that as it's an automatic. The wind resistance overcomes the torque at 125ish, if the governor is disabled. The car is unable to go any faster. For those who keep trying to go faster, you might if you have a 50mph tail wind, or go down Cajon Pass while floored. You're blowing up your FAMILY SEDAN if you're trying it though.

Now, for the guy with the 10 Sport...Throw up some performance numbers, please!! (That hood cavitation doesn't sound very good. Check UNDER the hood for the weatherstripping. The F150's used to do that, and Ford added some weatherstripping to them to remedy the problem)

actually I have a 1989 built gt by pauls high performance that now runs 11.70 and it ran 16.08 stock and I do work at ford and torque is what gets the load moving NOT 140 mph thats hp and if you want some come get some cause mines a freak for some reason I have had many race cars ut I wonder is someone tuned it before i got it ? it ran 14.98 and my tranny slips I know it runs over 130 since I was clocked next to my dads vette

This is my first post but i thought i was signing up for a big boy forum, not to be a D!CK but seems like this is very amature. I was clocked doing 130 next to my daddys vette? I had a 5.0 and i am about to buy a new ford fusion, god bless my soul if i had to race a 5.0 mustang against my new fusion sport, no contest. throw gears on a 5.0 and it would take the fusion by BUS LENGTHS!

You really know how to make friends here. Maybe you should go back to the big boy forums and leave us people with brains and common sense alone. :censored:

I tried telling him the 5.0 would make his SEL look stupid. He doesn't want to listen. Hell, my 5.0 would make MY 09 look stupid if I tried to drag race it...

Oh thats right, people with brains and common sense that think v6 ford fusions can take on 5.0 torque monsters, DaveM. Ill just stay here and talk to people who drive their fusions and dont think they are going to be able to take on muscle cars, because obviously those types of people do not have much common sense or brains.

Ill gladly be friends with everyone here who is nice, and also has enough brain to not tell me a 5.0 mustang is a 16 second car :) Nice meeting you DaveM i guess i know who is boss around here :hysterical2:

No where did I say a Fusion was faster than a Stang. All I said was you came here with a cocky attitude basically called us whatevers and for me your post was like a slap in the face. Personally I could care if you ever read any of my posts or others but you need to learn how to make friends and influence people plus get your posts/slams correct. Now let us start over.

I don't know what the hell you are even talking about. For all I care you can by a Prius or a Vette. NOT ONCE DID I EVER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR CAR WHAT CAR TO BUY OR WHATEVER. All I commented on is your rude behavior. So go back and reread the posts and bitch at the other guy who made the comments, and try acting like a man for a change.

so seriously, what does the Sport get in 0-60, or 1/4 mile? It should be pretty quick with the 3.5 in it. My wife's Edge has the 3.5 and it hauls ass considering the weight of it.

So I've got this nifty new 2010 four-banger six speed bolt action, and I'm trying to find out what it tops out at.

I googled it, but can't find any Ford-published numbers, or even any Car and Driver numbers?

Does anybody have any?

I was surprised yesterday when I got it up to a higher-than-expected speed, and yet it was still gaining when I ran out of road and had to quit.

I have an 06 ford fusion. Pretty much its a steeda fusion. i got my v6 fusion to go 131 before i ran out of road. how could i tell? my buddy let me use his sweet gps and it can gauge my speed. im guessing somewhere around 140-145 for a v6 fusion

I once owned a stock 92 LX 5.0 notchback with a 5 speed and it wouldn't have any problems taking my Sport. It ran in the mid 14's and topped out out around 140mph.

My seat of the pants numbers for the Sport are 6.7 sec 0-60 and 14.9 sec 1/4 mile.

I also owned a 06 IS 350, and it would take both of them. That car was sneaky fast.

As a current owner of a 2010 Fusion and former owner of a 2001 Mustang GT, I have to tell you that you are crazy if you think a Fusion can hang with a 2004 Mustang GT and older. Especially a SEL!

You may think these people are racing you, but trust me, they are not. I would never have even thought for one second that anyone was racing me that pulled up next to me in a fusion.

Further more, a fusion is a family sedan. Why do you buy a family sedan to race around?! If you want a fast car that is cheap, go pick up a new Camaro, they really don't cost much more than a decked out fusion.

I have a 03 Marauder which weights in at about 4600lbs with me in it. Stock is 302hp/318tq and ran mid 15's the 1/4. Although there are some factory freaks that went a high 14 stock but average is mid-low 15's. Bone stock in that heavy a sedan, I could smoke most any Fusion out there. I never had someone step up to me in a Fusion, Personally with all the work I have done to my Marauder, I actually surprise a lot of mustang and vette owners at the track and sometimes on the street. The governor on the 03 would kick in at 125 and on the 04 it was 115. No difference in tires but Ford made a change for whatever reason. Heres where it gets technical, Stock motor, throw in a higher stall convertor, and a set of gears and I can knock at least a half second off my 1/4 times. Still stock engine output. The fusion is no doubt geared to get the car off the line and make it feel like it has more power then what it really does but when you get on the top end, you'll learn how much power you really have. Every car I ever owned I pushed to the limit just to see what my potential is. This Fusion will be no different. My Marauder stock with the governor removed and 3.55 gears went over 140 before I ran out of road. I had a lot more then that but a 4600lb speeding bullet takes a while to come to a stop. I installed 4.10s and the car is a slow climb past 125mph. Gearing is the reason lower gears (4.10's,4.30's) will give you a ton of bottom end but kill your top end. Just cause you have a ton of power, doesn't mean you will top out at 200mph.

Horsepower is a factor of rpm times torque. A peak horsepower rating by itself, is almost totally useless....this is why a ford powerstroke truck just

might beat a mustang,a camaro,or a vette..it has a great power curve.....but good greif...i got my 2010 se because its FUN to drive and cheap to go a long distance in it!!!

(Shaking head) Stevenh, Stevenh, Stevenh...... Sure that truck looks fast, but everyone knows, the true factors that make a vehicle fast are how annoying your muffler is, and how much smack you can talk before a race, and how many excuses you can come up with after. Adding several hundred pounds of body kit and wing while removing the hubcaps help too. HID lights are also a great HP booster. That truck must have had HIDs, but with a body kit and wing, he may have gotten off the line sooner. You saw how fast the other truck left the line! Sheesh!
