Spazzed.1
I just drove my 2020 Ford fusion se eco boost 1.5 liter off the lot 2 nights ago brand new and now its got this ticking to it. I don't want to sound dumb or anything but people have told me that this is normal, it just seems a bit loud to be normal. This sound is with it in park. Am I just being paranoid or is this sound something to worry about? There is no check engine light. And this is with me in the car and the window down. Waldo
That's the tick from the high pressure fuel pump required for a direct injection engine. Pretty much all new cars do that now.

Spazzed.1
Ok guys help me out please. When I accelerate there sounds like there is something in my trunk sliding around, it also happens when I go around a corner. The sound is driving me crazy. I've read a couple of things that say its a bar in the trunk that goes from left to right under the package shelf, but I'm not exactly sure what that is or how to find it. Not a mechanic lol. Please help
Waldo
That's not normal. Have you checked the spare tire to make sure it's tight?

Please help HI Spazzed. As Waldo stated, check to ensure the spare tire is properly tightened down. Also, check the entire spare tire well to be sure there are no tools, a tire iron, screwdriver, nuts, bolts etc which were inadvertently left there and are now rolling around. If you do not see/find anything, make a service appointment at your convenience and let the Dealer correct the issue under warranty. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
SeaSir
Okay so I have a 2013 Fusion Titanium Ecoboost and I have the same exact sound except its louder on startup and when in idle. While in idle and I turn my steering wheel it gets louder and more stronger. When I press on the acceleration it stops and when the acceleration rpm goes down to idle again it starts back up. Now to say this is normal what does that mean for an older car and by normal does it eventually go away because that noise is not normal and if it is then I don't want it.
NCEcoBoost
Several things. First, the trunk noise COULD be the fuel filler attachment (plastic) that many dealers leave unsecured in the trunk or spare tire area. See the Owners Manual for where to permanently store it. Next, the ticking. My 2017 1.5 SE has had this from the start. Yes, it's the DI system and it's FAR louder than in any other cars (from non-Fords). Which doesn't exactly instill confidence, but yes, it's normal.

I checked the spare tire, but the 2020 fusion doesn't come with one, it comes with a pump that is also for tire repair. I tightened the big Styrofoam block that is where the spare tire would Normally go and it went away. Though it lessened up again.
