JRH232
Edit: Solved. Was defective - fixed under warranty. Just got a 2019 SEL, we are loving it so far but my wife has one problem that has eluded me so far. She still listens to radio, and says the radio in the car does not get a good signal. There are a couple of stations that the radio skips over when scanning, but when the frequency is manually entered, the station is audible without any sign of interference. There are also a few other weaker stations (some of which *do* come up when scanning) that she says sound less good than they did in our old car or with a portable radio. I have tried talking to SYNC support about this and they had me do a reset of the radio module (holding both scan right buttons at the same time), but that didn't change anything. I've been trying to find information on the radio antenna and have found mostly conflicting information - some sources say the antenna on the roof is used for FM, while others say it's the rear window (seems doubtful, the only lines on it are for the heating element). I in theory wouldn't be opposed to fitting a signal booster or whatever if that would be possible, just looking for a way to get more stations come up on scan as the primary goal. What is other people's radio signal like? Any problems? I feel like with the whole COVID situation (we are in a huge hotspot for it) I might not be able to effectively take it to a dealership and demonstrate/explain the problem. alcohenusa
No issues on my 2018 Fusion Platinum. Does yours have just a plain shark fin type antenna or is there a place for the a short amtenna to screw in at the back? Mine has the roof mounted antenna with a screw in antenna about 10 inches long. Maybe yours is missing? I know that several Ranger owners complained about poor reception only to find their antenna in the glovebox because the dealer never installed it,.

Is your 2019 Fusion still within the 3 year/36,000 mile New Car Warranty? If yes, make a service appointment and have it checked. My opinion: Dealerships have Covid protocols to avoid health issues. You will get a better resolution there, than from blind Internet diagnosis from strangers like us. Wear a mask. use social distancing, show them the problem by scrolling through a few radio stations, etc. You may also want to check another Fusion or two on the Dealer lot, to see how the reception on their audio systems are. Let us know how you make out and good luck. Edited December 30, 2020 by bbf2530
JRH232
Still within warranty, yeah. Just scheduled one but was interested to see if anyone else had a similar issue (I mostly found Edge-related results searching around), but I'm wondering if they're just going to go "it's working, no issue here". It has the plain shark fin type with no connector for an antenna on top of it. If it was compatible, I wouldn't mind swapping to the one that does have the antenna as well if it would give an improvement.

Go to your local Ford Dealer and check out a Fusion or two, to see how the reception is on their systems is. If it is better, then your Dealer can not say that is how they all are. If they are all the same as yours, then you have an answer. Good luck.
