20SELDave
The stop & go feature is great at red light when you're behind a car since you don't have to keep your foot on the brake pedal. However, if you are the first car at the light, you have to keep your foot on the pedal. Other than pull up the electric emergency brake (which doesn't engage the brake lights) is there any way to keep the brakes on without pressing the brake pedal when you're first in line at a red light? Thanks.
bbf2530
Hi Dave. Not familiar with any feature named "Stop and Go". Are you referring to the Adaptive Cruise Control when you say "Stop and Go"? Auto Stop/Start? To answer your question (I think): If your Fusion has the Auto Hold feature, then yes, just follow the instructions in your Owners Manual to press the "Auto Hold" button. If it does not have Auto Hold, then the answer is no. You will need to keep your foot on the brake if you want the brake lights illuminated. Good luck. akirby
You might be confusing auto hold with hill assist. Hill assist will keep the vehicle from rolling backwards when you take your foot off the brake. But only on a hill. Auto hold is what you want and it will work all the time if you have that feature, check the owners manual. Although I don’t understand why you can’t keep your foot on the brake for a few seconds at a traffic light. Auto hold is most useful in heavy stop and go traffic.

I just searched my 2020 pdf manual for "hold" and the phrase "auto hold" never appears ("hold" appears 117 times). Thank you for your reply.

Although the adaptive cruise control with start/stop helps a lot, auto hold would be the icing on the cake but it looks like Ford got rid of it for 2020.

It’s now integrated with adaptive cruise and is called Stop and go. Your SEL should have it if you have adaptive cruise. Check that in the owners manual.

I can follow a car to a stop or hit the set or resume button when braked behind a car and my car will hold. If I hit the buttons when first in line at a red light, I get an error message saying that there is not enough information to engage the system. If you can find a way to hold a 2020 SEL with Co-Pilot360 Assist when first in line, I would be greatly appreciative.

Found information that shows the Auto Hold button is on the center console, to the left of the cup holders, and to the rear of the rotary shift knob. If you do not have a button there labeled "Auto Hold" then you do not have that feature. And if you do not have that feature, there is no way I know of to do what your are trying to do (hold the car, "first in line" without using brake/parking brake/transmission), other than buy/add/program all the hardware and software necessary (see video link below). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOlXMUqt3zc Your other option is simply to use the electronic parking brake. Press the button to hold. Press gas to go. The fact that the brake lights will not illuminate is really a moot point (well, at least in my opinion), when you are sitting there stopped at light anyway. Good luck. I see the button on previous years but there's absolutely no mention or illustrations of an auto hold button in the 2020 manual. Just like they dropped the paddle shifters on the 1.5's. I guess pulling up the parking brake and lightly pressing the brake (to keep the lights on) is an option. Thanks for all your help.
