Missing under engine round shield plastic cover

I have a 2012 For Fusion SEL 2.5L that I just purchased 2 week ago. It had a 126,000 miles and CarFax showed it had a transmission fluid change at 86,000 miles. I read online it should be changed every 30,000 miles or so. I went ahead and just replaced the trans fluid with Mercon LV.... it took a whole 5qrts. Also it was past due for a spark plug change. I replaced the spark plugs too and it seems to be running more smooth.... specially the transmission.

My question is in regards to the bottom cover or shield. I did notice it was missing the round cover where the motor oil is drained. Is that cover important to keep water from that area? Should I look for a replacement or just leave it? I am not sure how important it is?

Hi idanny. hi Danny and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum.

That part is not important. If you have the time and inclination, and can find one at a local Salvage Yard, replace it. Otherwise, it is nothing to worry about.

Good luck.
