CCM front sensor calibration ?

Recommended Posts

I have to replace my front drivers sider CCM sensor it is the one behind the bumper cover lower grill driver side. I need to know is there a calibration procedure to this, and would I myself be able to do this

I was going to go to Ford to get the part but through them the sensor and bracket is almost 1800$ not to include the labor. I dropped 130$ for a diagnostic and feel like I paid them to tell me what I knew was wrong already. Oh BTW my car is a 2019 Ford Fusion S 3.0L

Hi MT. Is your 2019 Fusion still within the 3 year/36,000 mile New Car Warranty?

EDIT - Disregard. Now recall that this is due to accident damage.

Ok so I got some kind of luck with this part. I bought one from eBay and guess what PLUG AND PLAY!!!! No calibration needed. So the major problem is fixed. Now I need to get a OEM bumper cover. The dummy that " FIXED" the CCM in the first place put a shitty aftermarket bumper cover on the car. Let me say that thing is so dam flimsy. And again the part is expensive as hell LOL. That piece of plastic is worth a lot of cash. So here I go on the hunt again.

But how do you know there is no calibration needed?   Plugging it in and not having error codes is one thing, but driving down the road and having it slam on the brakes when you try to pass a car in the other lane is another.

I have been driving it for a bit now after changing the CCM and no issue. But I am a little smart I had a friend drive in front of me on the road where I live to see if it would act crazy and nothing. It has gone off 1 time on me so far and that was because I was to close to a Mustang.

Hopefully you'll be fine, but keep in mind the calibration is to make sure it works in all the difficult situations, not the easy ones like following your friend.  Cars in another lane when you enter a sweeping curve, fog or rain, motorcycles riding in one side of the lane and trucks that are high off the ground are all scenarios that require careful calibration.
