Helixal
I bought a 2020 fusion last January 2020 with the option of built in navigation. At the time of purchase the navigation maps were 3 years old. It makes lots of errors: turn left when you should turn right, takes you past your destination etc. I recently had my sync software updated. but that did not update the navigation software. My nav version is 1.18. A more recent version is 1.19. I asked the dealer where I bought the car to update the nav software. The service manager thought that the sync update would do itl I talked to others at the dealership with no results. I'm not too happy with buying a new car with stale software. I wonder if anyone else has gotten Ford to update this software. Is there a contact that you can call when the dealership just kisses you off? alcohenusa
You should be able to download the map update at https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home Be sure to use the Sync ESN and not the Sirius ESN. You can find the ESN within Sync. You will need to download the maps and the license file. You also have the option to order a USB set up for you for $40. Two things to note: - First, keep the email confirmation you receive so you can re-download again if necessary. - Second, when updating, ignore all the restart and remove USB messages until you get the one that stays on the screen and the system no longer restarts on its own. If you pull the USB too soon, you will most likely lose navigation voice commands and/or have other issues. The update takes about an hour or so. Good luck. alcohenusa
Hi Helixal, I have updated to Maps 1.19 on my 2018 Fusion that has Sync 3.0 and my 2020 Ranger that has Sync 3.4. Both were no cost to me via the download process. Have you tried the web site I provided? Edited March 12, 2021 by alcohenusa
Helixal
Al ,Thanks for your excellent instructions. In fact I had copied the wrong ESN. In speaking to the nav. people, I was told that the download was complimentary because I have "Map Care" (news to me) Apparently free downloads are limited to a length of time or number of updates. She mumbled 4 years but said she didn't know. What I find absurd is that the car engine must be running for an hour during the update process. I think Ill wait for a long trip to do the update - since the car can be moving during the process. I've got the USB loaded and am ready to go.
