Transmission dial noise?

So the transmission dial in my 2017 fusion makes noise the moment I get into the car before I start it. It used to do this then stop which I think is the proper routine. However now whenever I enter the car it immediately starts making some kind of buzzing/electronic noise until I start on the car or legitimately slap it. No joke if I lightly slap the dial it immediately stops. I have never taken apart transmission dial assembly but I assume the dial is attempting to catch on something however fails to unless I apply force or start the car. I will ask my mechanic (who is the mechanic for my local ford dealership) once my oil change comes around. Also recently my dial has been freezing and locking up however, it only happens maybe once a week or every other week and immediately corrects itself.

any thoughts/ideas on what's causing this?
