2016 Fusion Digital speedometer gone

Recommended Posts

I took my 2016 fusion titanium edition into body shop to be repaired after an accident. The passenger side doors and back panel had to be replaced. When I got my vehicle back my digital speedometer was missing. Poof, vanished no proof that it ever existed. I've had my car for 5 years and bought it with the digital speedometer. I have been to 2 Ford dealers now who all keep telling me that my vehicle did not come with a digital speedometer program and that it was never an upgrade option. I feel like I'm nuts, I know I had the digital speedometer, I used it all the time, I'm not an analog person. I've read online that it was even a package offered with the 2016 fusions but am also being told that it was not an option package according to my owner manual. PLEASE help. Has anyone had this issue or any ideas on how to get my speedometer back. Ford dealers are saying there is no way to reprogram it. How do I have this for 5 years and all of a sudden it is gone.

I see it as an option in the ForScan spread sheet:

IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) looks like has a programmable module where the large X at position 4 needs to be changed to a 1.

You said passenger side so i doubt the panel was replaced. Maybe they did some sort of reset or having the battery disconnected reset the module to default?

Why you had it before could only be a mystery but if you have an HS/MS-CAN OBD2 adapter and pc, forscan trial is free and you could change the as-built data for that module to display it again.

Hi rosered. The digital speedometer is usually a driver configurable setting in the Driver Information Center. It may have been accidentally disabled/reset or disabled/reset by a battery disconnection etc. (as FXT stated).

Have you checked your Owners Manual for the proper settings, or sat in the car and scrolled through the Driver Information Center settings to enable it again? In my 2018 MKZ (cousin to your Fusion), the settings to enable/disable the digital speedometer are accessed with the thumb buttons on the right side of the steering wheel. Perhaps it is similar in your Fusion.

If you do not have your Owners Manual hard copy, you can download the PDF version here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/parts-service/resources/owner-manuals/

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

FXT I'll have to look into forscan. I have seen it mentioned before but was unsure of it. Someone also said that even if I download it I still have to take it somewhere to get the program uploaded into my car.

Bbf2530 I have gone into the settings and the digital can not be found anywhere. Even went into diagnostic mode and no where does the digital speedometer even show up. All programming is missing for the digital apeedometer

they informed you incorrectly. You can do the alteration in the comfort of your own driveway/garage.

whether this is the correct fix or not I cant say but other than the expense of the adapter and most people have a pc/laptop, its free (unless you have used the free trial full version of forscan already)
