MTLEADER
Car showed code P0420 the other day so, I changed both o2 sensors reset with obd reader and it showed again then reset by unplugging battery and again it showed again today. Could it be my converter ? And not the o2 sensors ?

drolds1
If the code came back after clearing it with the code reader, disconnecting the battery wasn't going to produce a different result, as you've found. This code can mean your CC is bad, but according to your signature, your Fusion's a 2019. What's your mileage? The CC is warranted for 8 years/80K miles.
MTLEADER
It is at 53k. So I would just have to go to a ford dealership ? I would have to pay the diagnostic and nothing else then ?

If it is a failed catalytic converter, then it is covered to 8 years/80,000 miles (as drolds1 stated) and you would pay nothing. If it wound up being something else, then you could be charged a diagnostic fee. You would need to discuss this with your Dealership Service Department before they perform any service. Keep us updated and good luck.

MTLEADER
Got another question my cat is bad but the part is on backorder with no ETA from Ford. Can I get the dealership to provide me a rental because my car is not getting to speed right because the cat is plugging up more now. Again it is under the emissions warranty for my Cat being bad.

Hi MTLEADER. First...do you actually mean a loaner/courtesy vehicle (free), or a "rental" car (you pay for)? If you mean a loaner vehicle: You would need to contact the Service Department (preferably the Service Manager) at your Dealership for the answer to that question. I would recommend going in person to ask, since I find we get better results speaking face to face for things like this. According to the warranty agreement, Ford Dealerships are not required to offer a loaner/courtesy vehicle for things like this. However, some will make exceptions. If you mean a rental car, then you can always pay for a rental. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
FXT
Fearing backlash from people that think different I will post this anyway. It may temporarily fix your issue until the part arrives then you can remove it to have the dealer replace the warrantied part. P0420 can be rectified by placing a spacer known as a fouler in between the sensor and where it mounts. See: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CO91FY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The sensor relays a signal to the computer, if it above or below threshold it triggers the code. This is based on the reading it gets before and after the CC. It pulls the sensor away from the "issue" giving a normal reading again. Of course you would need to get one that is the right thread type for your vehicle. Again, this should only be temporary and my apologies to any that deem this to be an irreprehensible offense.
