QuantumLeaper
New to this forum, and looking to see if anyone knows the problems or things that need to be changed to do this swap. Mazda engine has 114,000 Kms and mine has had many issues causing to need to change. Already done bottom end now head gasket blew. Plus have had a constant issue with rear main leaking. So swap seems to be the best Alternative.
andyross
Not sure just how similar the engines are. The Fusion is more similar to the Mazda 6, not the 3. Plus, even if they share the same basic design, Mazda may have their own changes that will make it incompatible with the Fusion. Not to mention any electronic and wiring issues. It would probably be easier and cheaper to find a matching Ford Fusion engine, or another car.
digitalgpbandit
One difference between the Mazda 2.3 and the Ford 2.3 although nearly identical is the Mazda has an electric power steering whereas the Ford is belt driven. The Mazda 3 had a big recall on those electric power steering pumps a few years ago. There are some other differences I don't recall off hand, but I believe they are mostly electrical.
