2015 Fusion - Replace Sync with aftermarket radio questions

Hello,

I am trying to research options for replacing the factory radio on my fiance's 2015 Fusion SE Sync 1.1 with an aftermarket unit.  I am having trouble finding information on compatibility and dash kits/bezels.

First, is this even possible?  Can I just choose an aftermarket head unit, obtain the correct wiring harness, and install?  Or are there restrictions?

I found one bezel on ebay for 65 bucks.  Is there somewhere else I can find these?  Essentially the entire top section above the climate controls would be replaced with an opening for a head unit of a given size.

I'm not concerned about losing sync functionality, because well... it is awful.  The whole reason I want to replace the head unit is because sync is terrible, even with the latest firmware...or at least 1.1 is...

I've installed numerous head units over the years but never a Ford with sync.  It seems a bit hazy on if this is even something I can do.

Thanks!

Hi bjagd. I would recommend checking with Crutchfield to see what options are available. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-WFKPpYN1woT/

For questions like yours, I would recommend calling and speaking with one of their installation experts.

They can let you know what is available. Then you can either purchase from them or take the information and shop elsewhere. I have purchased from Crutchfield and highly recommend them. They supply all necessary harnesses, connector and hardware, along with detailed removal and installation instructions and lifetime tech support.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.
