Alfred L Posted November 14, 2021 Share Posted November 14, 2021 Hello everyone, I'm a new member, I have a 2010 fusion hybrid just replaced water pump, tensioner and belt. Drain and fill antifreeze/coolant, now motor is overheating and heater blowing cold air. Anyone ever have or know how to correct this problem. Unless the water pump froze up and broke the belt, but that wouldn't break the tensioner. Did you have this done or do it yourself? Thermostat stuck shut now? Need more info. One blind Internet diagnosis which is worth exactly what was paid for it: If the water pump is working correctly, there may be air/an airlock in the cooling system. I'll, all the parts is from Ford I'm going to vacuum the cooling system, if that don't work then I'll replace the thermostat. VonoreTn Posted November 15, 2021 Share Posted November 15, 2021 (edited) I'm going to take a wild guess that you drained the system at least partially of coolant to replace the waterpump, then you only filled the plastic pressurized tank to the full line, which will not replace all the coolant you drained. In other words, there is an air pocket in the system. Does the level in the plastic tank drop after running the engine? Don't run until the engine overheats, you can do a lot of damage if that happens, like blow a head gasket. Running the engine won't flush out the air until it gets up to ~190F to open the thermostat. I drain the system before I remove the water pump, the coolant didn't drop in the tank. I add 1.5 gallon before I start the motor. Alfred L Posted November 19, 2021 Author Share Posted November 19, 2021 (edited) Thanks to everyone for their advice, this evening I vacuum the cooling system and refill, still blower blowing Cold air. I removed the top motor cover, did a visual inspection and saw what look like a bleeder valve so open it and removed the valve, coolant level drop, I tap up and start the motor, coolant shot out, I shut motor off and screw in the valve and start the motor, run it for about a minute then remove valve again steam comes out, tighten the bleeder valve start the car, as soon as the motor start running I heard a loud clicking sound and suddenly hot air start coming out of the vent, now car is working great again, I ask a Ford mechanic on just answer about the bleeder valve, he told Me that my car don't bleeder valve.
