Lakerat
Borrowed my friend's Fusion (beautiful car). Rubbed up against a curb doing a u-turn, and I want to fix the scrapes I made. The body piece effected is underneath the front bumper. It appears to be a standalone piece as it's got it's own screws and isn't attached to the front bumper. There is one on either side of the license plate. Does anyone know what this part is called, and whether I could order this piece without ordering a whole new bumper? Thanks so much.

You do not mention a model year or trim level (different model years and trim levels can have different parts). Either way, the best way to get an accurate answer is to go to the Parts Department of your local Ford Dealer and ask them. Have the VIN of your friend's Fusion handy. It is used to accurately cross reference parts. They can tell you the part number, availability and cost. Then you can price negotiate with them, or use the part number to try and purchase it for less form another Ford Dealership or from an online Ford parts seller. Keep in mind you will also need to have the part painted (by a body shop, most likely). They do not come painted to body colors. Another option would be to search the part at your local Salvage Yards. If you can find one in new condition, it will be less expensive than new. Then you will only need to pay a body shop for painting (unless you really strike gold and find a like new one in the same color as your friend's Fusion). A third option: If the part is removable, simply pay a body shop to smooth/repair and paint it off the car. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
