I spilled some oily food in the back right seat when I was doing some doordash stuff. Ive tried leather cleaners and such, but no dice. Any other ideas?

Hi SB and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. A few questions: What leather cleaners have you tried?

Are you sure you are dealing with leather and not the faux suede seat trim (Alcantara/Miko Suede) that some Fusion models come equipped with? If it is faux suede trim, you do not use leather cleaners/conditioners on them. There are specific cleaning instructions for those faux suede trims which is different than leather.

Next, if your seats are leather, has any of the stain been removed by what you have done so far?

A mild soapy water and/or a top quality leather cleaner should be able to remove most stains from automotive leather. It may take multiple applications, but it should come out.  After cleaning, then use a top quality automotive leather conditioner on the entire seating area. It should help blend the color back in.

If that does not help, then you may need to check with a Detailing shop or an automotive leather upholstery shop to see if they have any professional strength products to use.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Try WD-40, but test on an inconspicuous spot first.  Another method is to cover the stain with cornstarch and leave it for 4-6 hours.  The cornstarch is supposed to draw the oil out.  Follow that with a leather degreaser such as Leather Master Leather Degreaser.  There are others.

Hi Art. Yikes! WD-40 on micro-coated automotive leather? I would be worried about WD-40, which can be used as a tar remover, damaging the micro-coating.

I am able to find sites that recommend WD-40 to clean/soften un-coated leather, but a quick search didn't find it being recommended for micro-coated leather.

Don't meant to cause you work, but can you point me to a site that recommends WD-40 for micro-coated automotive leather?

I'm always willing to learn. ?

Thanks Art.

IDK about recommend, bbf  ?  There are sites that recommend it for furniture leather.  Most leather on furniture is also coated, so it may be safe for automotive use.  IDK what the coatings consist of, or if furniture is coated with the same material as auto upholstery is.  It may be impervious to WD-40. This is why I cautioned the OP to test in an inconspicuous spot first.

Of course, a product designated for automotive use would be the preferred method.
