softailcmh
I had to replace my Motor Electronics water pump. Messy draining the coolant, but kinda easy. ? is it necessary to burb or blead out the air after installation? Mine did not seem to take the same amount of coolant fluid that came out. And what is best way to do so? tks a million in advance.... part used Dorman 902-085 Engine Auxiliary Water Pump
drolds1
Yes, it needs to be bled. There's a bleeder valve in the engine compartment. See this video. FF to 9:40. This for a 2007 Escape, but your 2010 FFH should be similar.
softailcmh
Thank you, I will see if I can find it.
softailcmh
Is this the mecs bleeder valve? It is the only thing I see here. The metal hump under the coolant reservoir hides a lot!
drolds1
I can't say for sure, but that looks like the bleeder valve for the ICE's cooling system. What's the white plastic piece standing vertically to the left of the valve in the picture?

The white plastic piece is one of the four posts which hold the plastic engine cover.
Campenella
I had my MEC Pump replaced on my 2010 FFH that has 245,700 miles. I had the "pull over safely" red triangle come on. I still received codes indicating the electronics were overheating. When I checked the antifreeze reservoir it was empty, I put fluid it. Also took it to my Ford dealer. I asked them to check for the reason regarding overheating, indicated I wasn't sure if when the MEC pump was replaced that it was bled or fluid added. The result from the dealer - "time to move on, you have 245,000+ miles so you have had your use". You need a new transmission, $14,000 because the transmission is overheating - we pinpointed the problem. I said I know it is overheating, why is it overheating? You need a transmission was the reply. I asked if I need a transmission, how did I drive it here (and back home tonight)? No response. Is it time to hang it up on this car? This has been the best car, does everything they said it would - as you can see I am not ready to donate this one.

I want to change the coolant on both the ICE and EV motor as it just crossed 100k miles. But I can't find any walk through or video on how to do the EV coolant. The ICE coolant won't be a problem.

Have you replaced the throttle body? That gave me the same "pull over" triangle. It also might be that they didnt simply bleed the system and get all the air out. Air in the system will cause it to overheat.

There's no drain per se. You remove the hose from MEC pump from underneath. Did you watch the video referenced in the above post of 4/9/22?
