Recommended Posts

Hi fellow fusion owners. I'm a new guy. I have a 2015 Fusion SE with 250k on it. It's been one of the best cars I have ever owned. Now I have a real head scratcher. Started out as an intermittent issue. Now its full time. All warning lights haveing to do with ABS ore on. Plus Air Bag light also get warning the backup assist is unavailable, Hell start unavailable, and I lose the power stering. More than 10 codes come up must beginging With U. such as. U0401:00-08, also frount wheel sensor bouth right an left. Anyone seen this before. I could use some help on this one.

Thank you.

How old is the battery?  If more than 3 yrs old I recommend replacing it.  80% chance that’s the problem when you have these types of issues.

Battery is less tham 1 year old. Test good. Car starts good. Shows 14v when running.

U codes tend to be communications codes, you likely have a bad module, you'll need someone with a good scan tool to figure out which one.  It is likely whichever module needs replacing will need programming as well.

You could try unplugging things one at a time and see if anything changes.  I'd try unplugging the ABS module first, but be certain to only unplug one at a time to properly isolate which one is the problem.

Hi EJ. In addition to the good information you have been offered so far...Googling the codes can give you a general idea on where to begin with diagnosing and troubleshooting. For example: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=DTC+U0401%3A00-08

And here: https://repairpal.com/obd-ii-code-u0401-invalid-data-received-from-ecm-pcm-a

And here: https://www.engine-codes.com/u0401.html

Let us know know you make out and good luck.

I have a 2013 Fusion Se, only 135k km, but 9 Ontario winters worth of road salt and corrosion. Symptom was sudden, ABS, Traction Control, Stability, and Air Bag lights came up. Power steering was also gone and the white steering wheel direction lines on backup camera dispersed - plus Service AdvanceTrac and Hill Start Not Available displayed on start up. I pulled codes, decided it was a ABS wheel speed sensor, so I went to inspect/test them - in the process of removing one I ended up breaking it - it was well stuck with debris and corrosion in the hole in the knuckle. Anyhow long story shor, replaced all 4 speed sensors, problem persisted. I found this You Tube and it lead me to the specific issue - mine was exactly the same problem. Spliced the wire and good as gold again.

Thanks for the share. I have a few wires which where slightly damaged like that when my motor mount collapsed. Perhaps they could be the cause of the problem.
