Zerocool
Hi all. My normal car battery died yesterday. I had to manually open the car with the fob piece to get in. Battery has been replaced but now the shifter will not work. I have to manually insert the key inside the hole of the middle console to put in drive. Now I’m noticing the hill assist coming on as disabled and the passenger airbag button is on. Seems like I need to reset something?

Your Dealer would perform it if they changed your battery. Alternately, you can leave the car sitting for over 8 hours completely untouched. That means locked, do not approach the vehicle with the keyfob in your pocket, do not use the FordPass app etc. etc. etc. for a minimum of 8 hours. This is also explained in your Owners Manual. If you do not have your hard copy, you can download the PDF version here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/parts-service/resources/owner-manuals/ For the correct pages in your copy, look in the Index under "battery". This passive reset procedure should correct your issues. If it does not, you will need to make a service appointment at your Ford Dealer or an independent shop to have the system reset performed. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
akirby
Just FYI - leaving it for 8 hours did not work with my F150. Auto stop start would not work most of the time. Dealer reset the BMS and it’s been fine ever since.

Punch in factory code and it unlocked.
